Zodiac
The band of sky the Sun, Moon and planets travel through, divided into twelve 30° signs.
Seen from Earth, the planets all move along roughly the same path through the stars. That path is divided into twelve equal signs of 30° each, starting from the point where the Sun crosses the equator in spring.
This is the tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons, used in Western astrology. Vedic astrology uses the sidereal zodiac, tied to the stars, which today sits about 24° behind.
